SE+ Group Work – Helping Young People Cope Together
SE+ group work, run in school by the Health Opportunities Team. Groups last for one hour and run for 8 – 10 weeks. The aims of SE+ are to give young people the chance to:
- feel good about their self;
- learn to deal with difficult situations;
- have better relationships with teachers, parents/carers, and friends.
SE+ groups are about building your confidence and learning to manage difficult feelings whilst having fun. We do this through things like team-building games, creative activities, and problem-solving puzzles. Staff are friendly and interested but they will not be asking anyone personal questions in an SE+ group. Every SE+ group has a final session to celebrate the young people and their achievements in the group. Referrals to SE+ groups usually come from guidance teachers.
