Improving Care-Experienced Young People’s access to Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Services in Edinburgh
Care-experienced young people are at increased risk of experiencing poor sexual and reproductive health (SRH) outcomes, and are more likely to become young parents, be sexually active earlier and to miss out on sex education. It is evident that some care-experienced young people have specific needs and therefore they may struggle to ‘fit into’ the existing model of care.
This service improvement project was undertaken by Health Opportunities Team, with support from Healthy Respect and NHS Lothian colleagues, to explore the views of care-experienced young people, their carers/support workers and service centre staff in order to improve the referral pathway to Chalmers Centre.
