What is Self-Esteem?

Self-esteem is a way a person feels about themselves. Everyone has it in different degrees. A person with high/positive self-esteem generally feels good about themselves and feels they have a lot to offer. A person with low or poor self-esteem generally feels worthless and that they have little to contribute.

Throughout our lives, our self-esteem can change and will be affected by different things like our friends, family, school and social media. With the right support, we can learn to manage our mind, feelings and actions. This can help us to feel better about ourselves and have kinder thoughts.

Growing up can be really stressful at times, it can be difficult to know what and how we feel. Remember you are not on your own, by getting the support you can find ways of coping. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. There are people and places that can offer confidential support and advice (Either through a phone call, text or drop-in services).
