The Drop-in

What is the Drop-in?

The Health Opportunities Team runs three health drop-ins every week*, for young people aged 12 – 25 years old. They are based at Portobello, Gilmerton, and Craigmillar.

At the drop-ins, staff provide a safe space for young people to gain information and advice about all aspects of their well-being, particularly their emotional and sexual health.

What to expect

Young people can expect to find staff that are trained to help them explore any questions or concerns they may have about their well-being. Young people can also expect to be treated with friendliness, warmth and without judgement when they come along to drop-ins.

All drop-ins have two spaces;

  • waiting space where staff are available to engage with young people, and where there is a range of leaflets and other resources.
  • space where young people can be seen on a 1:1 basis. Drop-ins are confidential, meaning we don’t share any information with anyone else unless we feel concerned that a young person is at risk of harm.

Drop-ins are open at the following times and venues:

Craigmillar: Health Opportunities Team,
1a Queen’s Walk on Thursdays 3:45 – 6pm

Gilmerton: Gilmerton Community Centre,
4 Drum Street on Wednesdays 6:30 – 8pm

Portobello: Portobello Library,
14 Rosefield Avenue on Wednesday 4 – 7pm
