Parents

Health Opportunities Team offers advice and information to parents regarding our services, issues young people face and how to talk to children about sex, to name a few. Project workers are available to develop workshops for larger groups and we also have a wide range of books, games and videos available for loan, free of charge.

As part of Healthy Respect (one of Scotland's National Demonstration Project), Health Opportunities Team is also developing further work with parents.

Currently, we are working together to develop presentations for parent's nights for schools across Edinburgh. The presentations will include information regarding the sexual health and relationship education their children are receiving in schools as well as answering any questions or concerns they may have about the topics discussed.

Parents will also have an opportunity to take information away such as ways of talking to children and teens about sex.

Healthy Respect has also undertaken a large research project reviewing previous and existing work with parents around this area. The result will be a document of best practices that Health Opportunities Team will implement in the local area.
