Education

Our education work is designed to meet the specific needs of young people supported by different organisations. We design education workshops and programmes for young people supported by a variety of settings, including:

Our team of Project Workers are available to develop workshops tailored to a group's specific needs. We design materials that are intended to be interactive, participative and fun. We will work with other agencies to help enhance current provisions and support staff to develop their skills and knowledge. Our project staff are skilled facilitators, able to lead groups or support other staff to develop their own programmes.

Within formal and informal environments we develop education workshops that enable young people to develop an awareness of emotional, social and sexual health. Recent funding is also enabling us to develop Smoking Education and Cessation work with young people in the South East of the city.

In high schools the service works closely with Guidance Teachers to compliment and enhance current sexual health and relationship education. We do this by creating new materials, redeveloping existing materials when required and by delivering classroom-based workshops to young people in single-gender groups.

We also have established links with other agencies with an educational remit. Our relationship with Royal Edinburgh Hospital's Young People's Unit has enabled us to create modules for young people attending the Early Psychosis Support Service. These modules have explored relationships, self esteem and support services for young people.

All of our Project Workers who deliver education work also provided confidential support within our Drop-In services. By working in educational settings young people are able to meet with workers in safe environments before using more private services.
